  • Low sugar level. Despite their small size and light anatomy, Chihuahuas suffer from hypoglycemia . This pathology causes tremor, but there is no need to be frightened, it passes in a few minutes. Warning: never give sugar automatically. Talk to your veterinarian who will recommend the most appropriate medication.
  • Emotionality. These little dogs are very sensitive. Feelings and emotions can be demonstrated precisely through small tremors. The simple fact of feeding him, cuddling him or preparing him for a walk can make our four-legged friend tremble.
  • Fear. If your dog has been adopted and is not in the first two cases, the tremor can be simple fear. The memory of old traumas can lead to this state. What to do? Simple: lots of love and patience. Make sure that in these moments he approaches you and trusts you; you will be rewarded by the immense affection that these animals always know how to show.
  • Cold. A Chihuahua’s body heat is notoriously lower than ours. So remember that our perception of cold is much less. Check the room or car temperature, turn off the air conditioning or select less severe temperatures.
  • Stress. Nervousness is a problem that can affect your dog. Such a small and active animal may be subject to a higher stress index. To solve the problem, contact him calmly, try to caress him gently and slowly.
  • Race. You may not believe it, but the type of race also influences this behavior. Chihuahuas tremble because their strong character and lively personality are contained in a very small body. To release all this avalanche of energy, you also need to tremble. They hardly do it for more than a few minutes and it is something very natural.

    • Earache. A tremor that is easy to identify due to its greater intensity. Tremors are often accompanied by sudden head movements. If you experience these effects on your Chihuahua, go to the vet to fix the problem.
    • Energy. Its very fast metabolism allows the Chihuahua to store a large amount of energy. This resource is not always released with normal physical activity or play. So, with small tremors along his legs and body, this little dog simply discharges excess energy. Make him run more, free him on the beach and buy lots of tennis balls to chase him.

As you have seen, there are many causes that explain why Chihuahuas tremble. Always keep an eye on your four-legged friend, make sure he eats enough, is warm and cheerful. As soon as you notice something strange, do not improvise : a visit to the vet will remove any doubts.
