The Different Types Of Homemade Ice Cream For Dogs

When temperatures soar and the heat suffocates,  a cold and delicious homemade ice cream is a very healthy option. Dogs can eat it too, it will have a beneficial effect on them.

How to prepare a tasty homemade ice cream for dogs,  not only refreshing, but also healthy? This is a frequently asked question among animal lovers.

It is important to consider that  dogs do not have to eat the same food as their owners. These products contain lactose, an excess of sugar, or ingredients such as chocolate. They could cause the animals to have flatulence, vomiting and diarrhea.

Vegetable yogurt: a frequent ingredient

Many of the ice cream recipes for dogs contain yogurt as the main ingredient.

Sometimes we  don’t have time to make a treat for our furry friend. However, you only need to put a jar of unsweetened vegetable yogurt in the freezer for two hours. You can also dilute it with a little water, blend it and then freeze it.

Before blending it, you can add melon, watermelon or mango juice to the mixture. Then, before putting it in the freezer, you can put pieces of apple, strawberry or peach in it. Although most fruit can be mixed, it is advisable to make ice creams with one flavor at a time to avoid unwanted reactions.

A delicious homemade banana ice cream

A little more elaborate is the banana ice cream with peanut cream and yogurt. 

First, make a banana cream. For each fruit used, add a tablespoon of peanut cream and yogurt, until it reaches the desired consistency.

Afterwards, put the mixture in the freezer, but do not leave it for too long, because it must cool without losing its creaminess. You can also add banana pieces to it.

Take some vegetable yogurt and add some pieces of biscuits, then put everything in the freezer. After two hours take it out.

With the help of a spatula, crumble the mixture and then put it back in the freezer.

Salty ice creams

Not all ice cream recipes for “man’s best friend” are based on yogurt. Not all of them taste sweet. A homemade savory dessert is chicken ice cream.

First of all you make the broth, add some chicken pieces (without the bones) and leave it for a few hours in the freezer.

You can also add pieces of ham with a little salt or sausage to the mixture.

Some tips for making homemade ice cream for dogs

Cold temperatures can cause digestive problems in dogs. To avoid complications, we recommend that you do not prepare too large portions.

To get small portions of ice cream, you can use ice trays.

Before serving the ice cream, let it rest out of the freezer for 10-15 minutes to soften a little. This way it will become creamier.
