First, you need to choose the place where the dog will spend most of the time. There we will place his kennel, his toys and bowls with food and water.

You will also need to cover an area of ​​the floor with newspaper and bring the puppy there when he shows the need to attend to his needs. 

Once he has done his business in the indicated place, it is necessary to compliment him by addressing him sweet words, caresses and also giving him some treats suitable for puppies.

Remember that positive reinforcement is always a good option for educating the dog. Do not rely on punishments, because they will never give the desired results. You will only be able to scare your pet and traumatize it. He may also start urinating and defecating in any place.

Patience and observation, the fundamental pillars for training the dog

Keep in mind that teaching your pet to always do his business where you want will not be a quick process. Puppies learn very slowly, so you need to be persistent and patient.

You must pay close attention to the most frequent moments in which the puppy urinates and defecates,  in order to be able to move him to the appropriate place in time. This usually happens:

• When they wake up.
• After eating.
• After playing.
• If they get upset or nervous in the face of certain circumstances.

Consider that  a two month old puppy can go from 3 to 4 hours without pooping and peeing. This period extends as it grows. Also, when the puppies are about to defecate, they begin to spin around and smell the floor as if they are looking for something.

As the days go by, you will see how your dedication will bear fruit and you will notice that the puppy begins to understand that he has to do his business only in the place you have arranged. Consult your vet if you have any concerns about this.

An alternative to the traditional sheet of newspaper are sheets sold in pet stores impregnated with certain smells that stimulate the puppy to choose them as a place prepared for his needs.

When the little dog will be able to take his first walks, you will have to gradually get him accustomed to the new routine until he understands that his needs will have to be done outside the home.
