Animals Asking For Food. Family Situation?

Animals asking for food. Family situation?

It often happens that to get your attention in search of food, your dogs emit exaggerated yelps, put their snouts on your legs and insist on getting something with their paws. You will be surprised by the number of domestic and non-domestic animals that have this habit, such as doves, pigs, cows, horses, etc.  Eating near an animal can be fun, but it can sometimes turn into a very uncomfortable situation. Here are some of the funniest situations in which animals

they ask for food:

First they look into each other’s eyes, then they look around

There are few things as touching as the pleading eyes of an animal when it hopes to receive a piece of that luscious piece of meat you are about to put in your mouth. Mammals make some unambiguous gestures, and much of our communication with them comes from the way we identify them. Fear, cheerfulness, curiosity, many domestic mammals are capable of  communicating a great deal of emotion with their eyes,  and how hungry they are or feel like munching on what we are eating, they will probably let us know.

Bava … the inevitable saliva

It can be unpleasant but also a lot of fun. Not all dogs drool when they ask for food, as this varies significantly by breed.  A few years ago I had a boxer named Zeus. In general we weren’t used to giving him food while we were at the table, however he watched us from the kitchen while streams of thick, hot drool ran from his cheeks, sometimes so abundant that giant bubbles formed and we had to take turns cleaning his cheeks the apartment and (if it stirred) the walls.

Howls and yelps

One of the elements that  man has retained as a form of communication with dogs are barking and howling. In fact  , wild canids, such as wolves and foxes, do not use barking to communicate. Instead, it is a way that puppies have to tell their mother where they are or if they are hungry, but as they grow they stop using them because they are no longer needed.

Then  your dog will bark, whine and howl to show you that he cares about what you are eating. Basically this is one of the habits that most annoys those who have a dog, even if it is a  behavior that can be corrected.

When the dog touches you or jumps on you

Cats tend to be a little more pushy when it comes to asking for food as they  don’t stick to their submissive role like dogs and don’t hesitate to approach, or climb onto the table to try and grab a bite. Fortunately for cat owners, this is not a very common habit and is likely to be seen in an animal that has not been well bred. In general, the cat will approach and touch you with its paws, its head or rub against your legs to indicate that it is  hungry. .. Beware, sometimes if you do not pay enough attention, cats can bite to protest.

Some dogs often put their heads between their legs and look you straight in the eye, as if they wanted to tell us “I’m starving”; it is a really nice and tender behavior, but it often dirties and damages the clothes we wear.

How to avoid this conduct

It is known that  many of the habits that our animals have are acquired or learned through wrong teaching processes. The most effective way to prevent your dog or cat from asking for food is to never offer it. Giving your pet food while you are at the table makes him understand  that this is correct and permissible behavior and consequently your furry friend will do everything to get your attention and be able to get what he wants (some dogs will urinate for call attention). The problem with this behavior is that it ends up becoming annoying and once you get used to it, it is very difficult to abandon it.

So we advise you to come to an agreement with your family members and with the people who visit your home so that no one gives during mealtimes and while you are at the table to eat food for your 4-legged friend. Thus he will follow a more controlled diet and consequently his health will be positively affected!
